Intent
At Wyburns we intend for all children to be able to understand and communicate French, through both communication and written methods. Our focus is on practical communication, aiming for children to be able to participate in simple oral conversations, thus preparing them for their Key Stage 3 learning. We want to ensure children are able to understand ideas, facts and feelings in the French Language.
Implement
In order to achieve this aim, we have planned a successful curriculum to ensure progress is consistent from Year Three to Year Six. Additionally, we have employed a languages expert who brilliantly delivers the French curriculum to our children. Mrs Gaydu’s fluency in French ensures all children are listening to the correct spoken language and are able to understand, respond and join in. The lessons are taught by building upon previous knowledge. This is through repetition of phases and key words : turning information into knowledge. This knowledge is embedded through a variety of creative activities for e.g singing French songs.
Impact
Through implementing our French curriculum, we want the children to become more fluent in a language that is not their own. We aim for children to ask and answer questions as well as express opinions. We want the children to appreciate stories, songs, poems and rhymes in French.
