What a fantastic lunchtime we had celebrating the Royal Wedding that will take place this weekend! Your hats looked amazing and we can't wait to share the results of who the winners are of the competition! We started our lunch with the National Anthem and then tucked in to our delicious food!
Jump in to Jump Rope - British Heart Foundation
Wow! Wyburns really did work as a team to help raise for British Heart Foundation! On 20th April, the whole school took part in a skipping event, in which they had to skip for an hour without stopping! We raised a total of £755 so thank you for all of your kind donations!
It's Tennis time!
Year 3 and year 5 represented Wyburns at the Tennis tournament on the 23/04/18 lots of great Tennis on display- well played all.
KS2 Easter Concert!
Well done to all of KS2 who put on a fantastic performance on Tuesday 27th April and sang their hearts out! All of the teachers were extremely proud and we had some lovely feedback from the event!
"I just wanted to congratulate you all on a wonderful Easter Concert. The children did a great job with their readings and their singing (and especially the actions).
It was so refreshing to hear the real story of Easter shared through the songs and readings and not be taken over by Easter eggs & spring imagery.
It was a joy to be with you for the concert. Thanks to all the teachers who have clearly worked so hard over the last few weeks."
Take a look at some of our amazing Easter cake creations! We can't wait to see who wins!
Being a good neighbour
Reverend Ricky from Rayleigh Baptist Church visited us on Monday to tell us all about how we can be good neighbours! We learnt lots about what we can do to help one another!
Team Wyburns ran really well once again and where really well behaved all morning. The event was massive this year with at least 25 school competing, We had lots of top 30 finishes and some top 10! Our year 5 girls even got 3rd place team. Well done all runners
Mr Baker and Miss Harrison
World Book Day 2018
Wow! All of your costumes looked fantastic and we loved hearing about your favourite books!
Throughout the day, when the 3 bells range, the children dropped everything and found the most bizarre places to read in!
The children also took part in the 100 Million Minutes Reading Challenge and brought their favourite books in to assembly to talk about what made their books special to them!
The Wyburns mixed football team managed to make the quarter final of the Parish cup beating The Willows Primary School 5-2 in the first round, Hockley Primary school 3-2 in the second round, Burnham-on-Crouch 4-0 in the third round and then the quarter final where we crashed out to a very strong Brentwood Prep school loosing 9-2 still such an amazing achievement getting that far in a county competition the team walked away with their head held high.
Our attention now turns to defending our league tittle. COME ON TEAM WYBURNS
Mr Baker :
The children have had great fun this week exploring all things mathematical. From maths trails and dinosaur hunts to cipher code investigations, the children have worked independently and as a team. We had competitions across year groups to make different shapes and arrays of numbers, measuring when cooking and Year 6 learnt all about ratio and proportion whilst baking World War 2 ration cookies. A fantastic week celebrating numbers!
Guide Dogs UK Assembly
Today, we had a very special visit from Guide Dogs UK. Douggie came to visit, with his owner, to explain why Guide Dogs are so important. The children learnt lots of new facts about how they are trained and how they support people who are blind. There were some great questions at the end!
This was one of the bigger events of the school year - 22 schools! We came 10th, which was brilliant! Well done team Wyburns!
Level 2 Hockey tournament
Another great sporting afternoon. We came 3rd!
We all had such a fantastic time at the Pantomime on Wednesday 13th December. 'Aladdin' was great - we all especially liked the Genie and the dance at the end!
Thank you for all representing Wyburns so well!
We can't wait to find out what next years production will be!
Wow! What a fantastic lunch had by all today! The children thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas dinner, the music and entering in to the Table Competition!
We will be announcing the competition winners in Friday's assembly!
The tables all looked fantastic and we really did get in to the festive spirit!
Wow what an afternoon! The guys smashed it coming 4th out of 12 schools, considering it was the first time any of them played a competitive game. And the only time they practiced was in P.E in our tiny, low ceiling hall. I can't take the credit though as Mr Stone lead their lessons
Mr B 😎

We have been amazed by the fantastic and innovative designs that you have all created for your Home Learning Projects. It was extremely hard to choose our winners but the results are in...!
Millie - Acorns

Well done to those children and everyone who took part!
Back to 77!
To celebrate Wyburns' 40th birthday, we've danced to 'Saturday Night Fever', gone back in time to the 70's for our Big Write and found out about what school was like then!
All of the costumes looked so great!
CRSSP Level 2 Girls Football Tournament
The girls where incredible! Topped their group by drawing 2 and winning 1. Taking them to the quarter finals to play Westerings which they won 3-1, then onto the semi finals where they lost 2-0 to the eventual winners of the tournament Plumberow, which then took them to the 3rd place playoff where they lost on penalties but still meant they finished 4th out of 16 schools!
WELL DONE GILRS!
The guys played fantastic with 2 win a draw and a loss. We were so close to going through to the quarter final as best third place team but lost out by 2 points! but onward and upwards plenty of football left
Macmillan coffee morning/Jeans for Genes Day 2017
Wyburns have been busy raising money for a range of different charities!
Macmillan coffee morning was a great success - thank you for all of the cakes and money donated that day!
The children dressed up in as much denim as possible for Jeans 4 Genes Day - to help raise money for children who are affected by life-altering genetic disorders.
We will update you with the final totals raised soon!
Harvest Festival 2017!
What a lovely day it has been! Thank you so much for all of your kind donations for our Harvest boxes.
In our assembly, children from each class presented a Harvest poem or song to the whole school. It was so lovely to hear all of these - you were so confident!
Take a look at how much food we have donated to our local charity HopeWorx. The charity were extremely grateful and had a struggle to fit it all in their car!!
Thank you again!
AND WE ARE OFF WITH THE FOOTIE!
Friendly Football Tournament at Grovewood Primary School
Results- 1-0 Loss vs Grove, 2-0 Win vs Glebe and 2-2 draw with Thundersley.
Thank you Grove for having us.
Lots of great running by everyone! Although I think I did more running than the children did!
Wyburns children where brilliant as always!
A cold to warm afternoon at the Hockey tournament. Most of the team had never played a competitive game of hockey and only tried it in P.E lessons. It was a slow start but we soon picked it up and finished 4th out of 6 schools. Not bad, not bad at all!
We all left feeling very inspired on Monday afternoon as we had John from 'Power 2 Inspire' in to visit us. He was born without hands and feet but came to talk to us about how he had completed 34 Olympic and Paralympics Sports on the Road2Rio challenge! WOW!
It was truly inspirational the amount of resilience he had shown! We were buzzing! It truly showcased the Wyburns Motto and the '5 Rs' we all aspire to at school.
You got the Power in You!!
What challenges can you take on?
Rock Steady Music Assembly
We were treated to a whole school assembly from Rock, Steady, Music! He played us some brilliant tunes on the electric guitar, the electric drums and the keyboard. He definitely had us all bopping along. We impressed him with our own Rock Talents - a full rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody!
Keep Rockin Wyburns!!
This one is always a fun event! We came 6th out of 11 schools.
Nice one Wyburns!
Another level 2 event. We started off slowly but after an inspirational team talk from me and Mrs Edmonds, we won 3 games on the bounce and only lost 2! We were so unlucky not to make the semi final!
We all played exceptionally well and I am very proud of you all.
Well done Wyburns!
Crackers, Singing and more importantly, dinner!
Christmas dinner was another special occasion. We decided to change it this year to make this experience even more enjoyable.
Each class had to design and create their own Christmas table. We had it all, from Snowmen centre pieces to unusual, and very funny, Christmas hats. Reverend Phil joined us for this special occasion and was a guest judge! He decided which class won the most decorated Christmas table. Results are in and a big well done to Class 7 and Class 6 whose tables were beautiful.
The dinner was yummy this year, the children were each given a special plate and were allowed to go up for seconds followed by a very delicious desert.
A big thank you to all the staff and chefs who made this event extra special.
EYFS Christmas performance.
AH! This Christmas play was magical! The children performed brilliantly and we all learned a very valuable message - its best to work together to get a job done. I hope snow falls over Rayleigh so we can make some more fantastic snow men too!
A big well done to all the children in Class 1 who took part. It was amazing!
Countdown to Christmas!
Wow! What a performance, Key Stage One you knocked our socks off! Your Christmas performance was brilliant. I could hear every word that you sung and said, your acting skills were fantastic and you had your parents laughing, crying and smiling the whole time!
I think if Simon Cowell was watching he would be saying "It's a yes from me!"
Well done Key Stage One you made us all very proud.
What a brilliant trip to the Towngate Theatre in Basildon! It was so brilliant to take the whole school out for the afternoon and the children really enjoyed the performance of Sleeping Beauty! With dancing, singing, time travel and a giant dragon, it really was a great afternoon!
As usual, the children of Wyburns showed their brilliance! They were all superstars and represented the school so well. It was a pleasure to take them all out for the day...although none of them shared their sweets!
Christmas Lights 2016
Once again, Year 6 took to the stage in dazzling fashion to perform to Rayleigh High Street at the Christmas Lights Switch on! They were absolutely fantastic and so many people have commented on how their performance was by far the loudest and the most enthusiastic! I have to say, although I am a little biased, I totally agree!
Well done Year 6!
Children in Need
Spots, Spots and even more Spots!
Wow! Wyburns were invaded today by lots of SPOTS! We had spots in our hair, spots on our clothes and even spots on our face! We had a fantastic day raising lots of money for Children in Need. We will inform you of the grand total in our newsletter.
Thank you everyone for your contributions!
Our Basketball team were fantastic, they played to the best of their ability considering we were drawn into a hard group and some of the team had never played a competitive match before. But if I must pick a player of the tournament it would be…….myself for refereeing most of the games J ! Well done basketball team. Hopefully we will have some more fixtures soon - watch this space.
Mr Baker J
Another day, another level 2 competition. Once again the children gave it there all, the children worked as a team and played exceptionally well! The children won 3 games but unfortunately lost 3. We came 4th out of 8 teams and we are all very proud of you! Well done dodge ball team!
Stand up to Cancer
Thank you everyone for supporting such a worthwhile cause. We have raised nearly £200 which is brilliant so thank you all!
We were overwhelmed with your book competition entries!
Well done everyone. there were some absolutely brilliant new book covers! It was so hard to pick a winner but we finally made a decision.....
Janie, Finley, Amy, Elliot and Sienna
What a fabulous display we have in the library now!
Wow! What a brilliant week. There was so much going on in school this week. I saw cooking lessons, dancing, music, history, art....so much happening! Each class studied a country for an extra special week of learning.
Class 1 - Italy
Class 2 - Australia
Class 3 - China
Class 4 - Kenya
Class 5 - Thailand
Class 6 - USA
Class 7 - Greece
Class 8 - India
It all ended with a trip to the CLC on Friday. Children then had a South American theme and explored the amazing sensory room, deafened everyone in the music room and completed some writing, art and geography activities using the Ipads.
A MASSIVE thank you to Miss Campbell and Miss Fagence who organised the whole days events and well done to all the children for throwing themselves in to the task with enthusiasm.
Level 3 Parish Cup (football)
Wyburns 2-3 Plumberow
Team:- Justin, Dylan, Tayla , Louie, Sam , Ella, Harley, Lucas, Harry , Max , Daniel and Trinity.
Well girls where do I start?
You blew me away with your performance, not only were they unbeaten in the group they also scored the highest points in the whole tournament.
Unfortunately we did lose in the semi-final 1-0 but we then went on to win the 3rd place play-off, winning 1-0 to come third. Considering, for some of the girls, it was their first time playing, you wouldn’t have even know! Raya was voted our player of the tournament with an amazing performance between the sticks. Trinity was our top goal scorer.
Roll on the league games!
WOW! What a way to start our hectic level 2 competition schedule.
The team had to play tough opposition in the group stage but with 2 wins, a draw and 2 losses they made the quarter finals. Unfortunately we lost on penaltys but the boys were very pleased with the results and the way they played.
I was very pleased with every players performances and the positive attitude throughout the day.
Goals came from Tayla who scored 5 and Harley who scored 1!
Thank you every one for supporting our coffee morning to raise money for MacMillan. It really is such a worthwhile cause. I enjoyed chatting with so many of you (and eating that delicious chocolate cake!).
Thank you to Sainsbury's local who once again donated cakes for the event. And of course a big thank you to Mrs Tkacziw for organising!
Watch this space and we will let you know how much we have raised soon.....
Wow! Look at all that food! Thank you every one for all of your donations. I think this is the best yet! Well done Team Wyburns!
The harvest assembly was a massive success. Thank you Reverend Phil again for coming to visit us. We also had some excellent poems and songs from each class. My personal favourite was Class 1 - Big, Red Combine Harvester! What brilliance you showed!
We had a visitor from Hopeworks who collected all of the donations. Last year, the donations from Wyburns fed 1000 people. I think we may have topped it this year.
A big thank you to Miss Campbell who organised this year's celebration.
