Equality
Equality Duty
Equality, Inclusion, and Policies
At Wyburns Primary School, part of Schools for Every Child, we are committed to promoting equality, inclusion, and respect for all.
Equality Duty
We comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) under the Equality Act 2010, which means we work to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity, and foster good relations between people with different protected characteristics, including age, disability, race, religion, gender, and sexual orientation.
Inclusion
We are dedicated to ensuring that every child is included, supported, and able to access the curriculum, no matter their background, needs, or circumstances.
Policies
Our school has clear policies in place to support equality and inclusion, all of which are available on our website:
-
Equal Opportunities Policy
-
Special Educational Needs (SEN) Policy
-
Anti-Bullying Policy
-
Behaviour Policy
These policies guide our practice and help us maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all.
Equality Objectives
At Wyburns Primary School, part of Schools for Every Child, we are committed to promoting equality, inclusion, and diversity. Our Equality Objectives set out how we ensure every pupil, staff member, and member of our school community is treated fairly and has the opportunity to succeed.
1. Promote equality of opportunity for all pupils
We aim to remove barriers that may prevent any pupil from accessing the curriculum, participating fully in school life, or achieving their potential, regardless of background, ability, or additional needs.
2. Improve outcomes for disadvantaged or under-represented groups
We monitor and support pupils who may be disadvantaged, have special educational needs, or belong to under-represented groups, providing targeted support, so every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
3. Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment
We encourage respect and understanding among pupils and staff from all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities. Anti-bullying, anti-discrimination, and diversity awareness are embedded throughout school life.
4. Engage our community in promoting equality
We work closely with parents, carers, and the wider community to ensure our school celebrates diversity and that all voices are heard and valued.
These objectives are reviewed annually to ensure we are making progress and continuing to improve equality and inclusion across Wyburns Primary School.
