Science in Year 2 - Looking at materials

Year 2 so far...... Sept 2025

Year 2 have been working amazingly hard in all lessons.

This is what we have been learning:

Maths - counting numbers to and from 100, partitioning numbers into tens and ones e.g. 4 tens and 3 ones  = 43, placing numbers on a number line and comparing numbers.

English - we have written poems, looked at using our senses relating to the seasons, wrote a non-chronological report about The Seasons and we have worked very hard on our reading, writing, handwriting skills and spellings.

Science - we have very much enjoyed looking at materials, their properties and which ones were best to use for certain purposes and why. We then created an investigation, made our own boats out of junk and we are soon to test these.  We will then conclude our investigation to see what we found to be the best materials.

This is just a snippet of the many things we learn in Year 2.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Year 2 - September 2025

October 2025

Year 2 have been working very hard this week to learn about Significant Women in English and History.  They have also enjoyed counting number bonds to make 20 and 100 in Maths.  In Computing, we learnt to log in with our new personalised details, use a mouse carefully, type on a keyword and even how to copy and paste images into a Word document. We had lots of fun with this.    Well done for working so hard this week Year 2!

Welcome back Year 2!

This week we have been working very hard in all areas of learning.  This is what we have been up to:

English and Science lessons have been connected to write instructions about our fab experiments. Firstly, we created a very exciting wormery, and then we looked at how we will observe woodlice. Some great instructions were produced, well done everyone. Next week, when the weather is not so icy, we will add the worms to the wormery and observe them.

In Maths you have all been working hard to solve 2 times table problems and learn your 4 times tables too, great job!

In other lessons, we have worked on your balancing and throwing skills in PE as well as learning about your growing body in PSHE.

A fantastic first week back, here's to more learning next week!
