What a fantastic week in Maple Class!
In Maths, the children have truly smashed equivalent fractions and decimals. They can now confidently recall and recognise key fraction-decimal equivalents, including ¼ = 0.25, ½ = 0.5, ¾ = 0.75, ⅕ = 0.2, ¹⁄₁₀ = 0.1, ¹⁄₁₀₀ = 0.01, ⅛ = 0.125, ⅓ = 0.333... and ⅔ = 0.666.... They have shown great confidence when identifying and applying these relationships in a range of mathematical challenges.
In English, we completed and performed persuasive speeches inspired by our study of Beowulf. Taking on the role of brave warriors, we wrote speeches to convince the villagers of Heorot to support us in destroying the monster that was terrorising their village. The performances were delivered gladiator-style, with plenty of passion, expression and persuasive language!
Our History topic reached its dramatic conclusion as we explored the events of 1066. We learnt about the Battle of Hastings and how William the Conqueror secured victory before being crowned King of England, bringing an end to a fascinating period of Anglo-Saxon and Norman history.
In PSHE, we explored money and discussed the importance of making sensible financial choices. The children considered needs and wants, ways to manage money responsibly and how spending decisions can affect ourselves and others.
Well done, Maple Class, for another week of excellent learning and enthusiasm! 🌟
