Our week in Class 6
Maths
In Maths this week, the children have been dividing using remainders as well as beginning to look at multi-step problems and the order of operations. The BODMAS song was quite a hit!
English
In English, we have finished our narrative retellings of Beowulf and Grendel. We then moved onto interviewing the character of Grendel's mother and writing a diary entry as this character. The children really enjoyed stepping into character and produced some excellent pieces of writing with a plethora of high-level vocabulary!
Foundations
In PE, the children have continued our gymnastics topic and have been practicing cartwheels and round-offs. In History, we have continued learning about Viking everyday life, as well as what they wore and carried into battle. Remember, if you have any cardboard you do not need, such as an amazon box, please send it in for the children's Viking Longships, which we will be building in DT before half term. In PSHE, we have discussed our dreams and goals for the future and identified the steps we should take to get where we want to be.
We also had a visitor from Essex Fire and Rescue to discuss being safe on Halloween and Bonfire Night in a whole school assembly. Class 6 also had a workshop from our visitor to discuss keeping ourselves safe.
