Every child has brilliance inside them. Our job is to dig it out and give it to the world!

Week 1 (1.11.21)

Welcome back after the half term break!

It has been so great to have Class 5 back together again this week!

In English, we have started an exciting new non-fiction unit where we are going to be focusing on setting descriptions, character descriptions and writing dialogue. We even took our writing outside to write our forest setting descriptions in our school forest. Getting outside and experiencing the forest ourselves gave us great ideas on what to add to our writing!

In maths, we are looking at multiples, factors and prime numbers as well as common factors and common multiples. Additional key vocabulary for this week has been integers and composite numbers.

For our topic subject this week, we have been looking at black and white photography and have been inspired by the great American landscape photographer Ansel Adams. We have spent some time discussing what makes a successful black and white photograph (contrast, varying texture, rule of thirds, shadows and more!) and have taken the opportunity to find inspiration around the school grounds and 'make' our own monochrome photographs! Check out our Google Classroom for more evidence of this!
