Launch of Getting Around in Essex consultation
Essex County Council launched its bus strategy and consultation on 6 February 2015. The consultation which is called Getting around Essex will help the council to get views from stakeholders including Schools, residents, commuters and representative groups about how we could improve the county’s bus and passenger transport network.
The consultation runs until the 31 March 2015.
Buses help get people to work, education/training opportunities, the shops, leisure/sport activities as well as social activities and to see friends and family. The questionnaire will help the council and its partners to review the bus service currently delivered across the county to shape the service to deliver greater economic and social benefits for the people who travel around and work in Essex.
The consultation focuses on eight areas:
Better partnership working
A clearer commitment to quality
Measures to grow passenger numbers
Better targeted support for those services that are taxpayer funded
Better information for customers
Services that are better tailored to local needs
Integrated and smart ticketing
Focused local planning
You can read the strategy by visiting www.essex.gov.uk. If you would like to answer the survey questions please visit: http://surveys.essexinsight.org.uk and follow links to the Getting around in Essex consultation. I am aware that not all areas of Essex have good broadband access, so I have attached a PDF version of the strategy, the summary document and questionnaire. Essex Libraries also offer free internet access to library members.
Alternatively, contact Healthwatch on 01376 572829 between 10am and 2pm, Monday to Friday except for public holidays to complete the survey over the telephone.
Hard copies of the strategy will be available at local libraries or to request copy of the summary, which includes a paper copy of the survey for you to complete, please call 0845 743 0430 or email contact@essex.gov.uk.

This week we are focusing on Article 17 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: access to information from mass media. Tuesday is national Safer Internet Day and the children will be doing much work around the theme of ‘Let’s create a better internet together’. Please do take the chance to speak to your children about safe and responsible internet use and do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
