Dear Parent/Carers,
The DFE have updated their guidance.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/actions-for-schools-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak/guidance-for-full-opening-schools
We have adapted our RA accordingly, where necessary.
A key direction is ventilation within school as outlined below-
- natural ventilation – opening windows (in cooler weather windows should be opened just enough to provide constant background ventilation, and opened more fully during breaks to purge the air in the space).
- Opening internal doors can also assist with creating a through output of air
- natural ventilation – if necessary external opening doors may also be used (as long as they are not fire doors and where safe to do so)
- opening high level windows in preference to low level to reduce draughts
- increasing the ventilation while spaces are unoccupied (e.g. between classes, during break and lunch, when a room is unused)
- rearranging furniture where possible to avoid direct drafts
As we return to full uniform following half term, please consider the following-
- Increased ventilation may make school buildings cooler than usual over the winter months. While schools will want to maintain the benefits of their uniform, they may wish to consider allowing additional, suitable indoor items of clothing to be worn during the winter period in addition to the school’s current uniform.
- Uniforms do not need to be cleaned any more often than usual, nor do they need to be cleaned using methods which are different from normal.
So, please consider layering clothing for your children so they can add and remove. Perhaps a jumper and a fleece, (preferably navy or black)? A t-shirt or long sleeve vest under a shirt?
I appreciate this may prove difficult for some families, please contact the office- in confidence- should you require assistance.
Best wishes
Mrs K. Sansom.
