Welcome to the Summer Term

What an exciting start to the Summer Term! On Tuesday morning, we had the exciting opportunity to meet some owls. Nite Owls brought some of their owls to visit with us. It was amazing to see the owls flying around the assembly hall. We met a barn owl, a great horned owl, two eagle owls, a little owl and a scops owl. Who knew there were so many different type of owls? The children were amazing and they all got the opportunity to have their picture taken with the barn owl.

Our class novel this term is titled 'Deadman's Cove' and we have read two chapters so far. I think this has been an excellent choice as the children have engaged quite well with the novel. Yesterday, we had a lively discussion about our impression of Laura's (Laura is the main protagonist) uncle , Calvin Redfern. Some very imaginative ideas were shared.

In maths, we have continued with statistics and have been looking at reading and interpreting time tables.

To start the term, we are looking at writing  explanation texts in English. This week, we wrote an explanation text about the life cycle of a butterfly. This was linked to our science lessons, where we have been learning about the lifecycles of different animals. In particular, how some animals undergo a process of metamorphosis during their lifecycle.
