Every child has brilliance inside them. Our job is to dig it out and give it to the world!

Class 4

Sunday 19th June

We have been on a fantastic literary journey this week with Shakespeare and pirates! The children have enjoyed insulting each other using Shakespearean language! Next week we'll be starting on our pirate stories ARRRR!!

More pen licenses have been achieved - well done to Nikki, Daisy and Phoebe. You have showed amazing resilience working towards it all year. I'm so proud of you.

Tomorrow is our school trip but it looks set to so please make sure you bring a waterproof coat and bag. If you're bag isn't waterproof just line it with a carrier bag in case of leaks! I'm sure we will still all enjoy our day!

See you all tomorrow

Miss F

Don't forget tomorrow is Pirate day! Please come dressed either in casual or pirate attire me hearties!

Sunday 12th June 2016

So we kicked off our week choosing our teams for the Euro. Friday night's match was close with France winning. Followed by a fantastic win by Wales (first of it's kind in 58 years!) and then a rather disappointing draw for England and Russia. Some of you might need to get cracking on your presentations ready for when you're out!

We started looking at Romeo and Juliet on Friday with year 5 and unpicked some of the language. Some fantastic team working and role play class 4 - well done!

We all had a fantastic surprise on Friday during assembly - the BB cup!!! Wow class 4 I'm so impressed. I know we can keep it (if only we could stop chatting!)

We also said goodbye to Jack this week and hope he will be very happy in his new school. Keep in touch Jack :-) We'll miss you.

laughWELCOME BACK!laugh

What a fantastic day we all had yesterday. So lovely to see you all in your red, white and blue!

You all tried really hard with the new French vocabulary and put it into practise for the treasure hunt in the afternoon.

This half term (our last seven weeks in year 4!) we will be looking at Euro 2016 and will be taking a country each to research and present to the class. After yesterday, I know you will all give it your all!

Our school trip is on 20th June so if we haven't got your permission slips please can you return them as soon as possible.

Many thanks

Miss Fsmiley

Carrier bags needed please

Next Friday the children need a carrier bag for a project we are doing. If everyone could bring one in by Thursday that would be fantastic! thank you :-)

May 2016 Friday 13th

Friday 15th April

After a very noisy week I am pleased to say you have started the summer term BRILLIANTLY.

You were all so enthusiastic on Wednesday it was a joy to be a part of STOMP with you!

Not only did you achieve fantastic spelling and times tables results (and some beat Mrs M!) but you blew my socks off describing the setting today. I am so very proud of how well you all worked today and cannot wait to see your skills and high level vocabulary applied to your stories next week.

This week Bobby gained his pen license (very well deserved!) and the girls won the token competition.

I'm so excited for next week and look forward to seeing you all on Monday!

Miss F

Welcome back!

The summer term is here! I hope you all had a wonderful break and have managed to create some fabulous rainforests.

Don't forget we have STOMP on Wednesday so please come in clothes ready to dance :-)

Looking forward to seeing your BRILLIANCE this week!

Saturday 12th March

What a week! We've been busy learning about expanded noun phrases this week and the children have been using them in their writing. Part of the homework is on this.

We also planned and delivered a science investigation with varying degrees of success! We tried hard to make the test fair but keeping the variables the same was tricky stuff!

Times tables are going well and most of us managed to complete 60 questions in 3 mins - an amazing improvement for everyone well done! We had our first 60/60 in under a minute too! The homework grid is to practise and time how long it takes :-)

Next week we are focusing on our science week topic of spies - Class 4 are going under cover!

We now collect tokens for amazing learning behaviour. Last week the boys won, this week it was the clever crocodiles English table no

Happy New Year! Year 4 have certainly returned ready to learn!

New spelling groups are now in the pipeline as the children were re-tested on Tuesday and the groups require some tweaking. This will take place this week and the children will know their new group on Friday.

The children (and adults!) had an amazing day today with our visitors from 'History off the page'. The children all got into character and were able to experience a day in the life of (a very busy) Roman.

They made mosaics, potions, painted plaster, created bowls, ornaments and other objects out of clay as well as using wax and charcoal for writing. We also enjoyed a banquet (and lots of traditional Roman entertainment) to celebrate the demise of Boudicca.

Thank you to all the adults who helped make sure the day was a success! Well done Class 4 for displaying such enthusiasm - it was a pleasure to be a part of it with you all today!

Tuesday 29th December 2015

I hope you've all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to an amazing Spring term (I know I am!)

Just a quick reminder that times tables will go ahead on Tuesday (instead of weds) along with our year 4 spellings. New spellings for the different phases will go out next week so there will not be a test (unless you're in my group - sorry!) I am in the process of changing the spelling groups at the moment (your phases will remain the same but the adult with you will change).

Please remember to return to school with your PE kits as PE will take place on Thursday as usual.

Finally, it's our Roman Day on Wednesday so you can come dressed as a Roman or wear something red and black.

Looking forward to an exciting term!

We received a very important mission from James Bond this week and discovered that the haribo sweets aren't actually very fair. We will be reporting our findings to the man himself next week. Half term Homework for those children who 'forgot' their folders! :-)

Have you seen this giant??

Tuesday 20th October 2015

This week is book week and our class book is the BFG by Roald Dahl. The week started with a visit by the BFG. Unfortunately as he is so big and clumsy he destroyed our classroom. We think he was disturbed as he dropped his pot of dreams leaving them to 'sparkle' all over our classroom!

Since then the children have solved word problems, used the interesting language and written recipes for dreams. A very busy week so far!

Don't forget to keep striving for 5 and reading as often as possible. We are so close to winning the first leg of the reading competition - Keep it up class 4!

The children enjoyed an e-safety afternoon last Friday. They focused on how to keep safe online and to keep their personal details private.

Friday 18th September 2015

The children have enjoyed an action packed week this week! St John's ambulance administered first aid training to KS2 on Tuesday and the children were very interested in the session. There is a game on their website that will help the children consolidate their knowledge and show you what they learned.

We also enjoyed a week of inspirational maths and the children completed lots of practical maths that enhanced their thinking and mathematical skills.

We have also started practising for our production - I'm sure you will have heard the children singing! We are all looking forward to performing to you in a few weeks.
