Apologies for no updates yesterday - wifi is very questionable!
we had a fab day yesterday despite a lot of rain!! Everyone got muddy and wet but we all enjoyed it! We sat and watched a film last night- see pictures below! And we got a full nights sleep.....(ish!)
Today the children were rudely awoken by some air horns which were definitely not myself, mrs Beale or mr baker getting revenge...loads of activities, some swimming later.....we are having a brill time!!!
Morning,
Just to let you all know we are all having a good time! We've had (some) sleep!!
We can't wait to throw ourselves into our activities today. Hopefully pictures to follow..../
The whole school enjoyed a very successful French Day. We ran a cafe in the hall complete with croissants and bread, learnt a French song - Jean Petit Qui Danse - and completed a French treasure hunt. Tres Bien!
We ended the day by skypeing a French School - exciting stuff!

We will then come back into class to continue our learning.
Please be aware this is a weather permitting event. Should there be inclement weather on the day all events will be postponed. This will be posted on the website banner if cancelled.
Fingers crossed for some sunshine!

Hope you all had a lovely half term!
Come on Year 6, Let's work hard and blow the SATs out the water.......
Congratulations
Well done to our super brilliant quiz team who came second today! You were absolutely amazing - I was so impressed with your knowledge and determination to be the best you could be. We only missed out on the top spot by 2 points!
As we came second, we have secured our place in the FINAL of the KS2 quiz! How exciting! It takes place next Tuesday so we need to start training ready to WIN!
Earth is.......
FASCINATING!
This week we explored how the Earth is a fascinating place. In English we explored the text Varmints and thought about how the creatures cares and views nature. We explored this further by researching some of the most amazing places on Earth and locating them on a map. We learnt a new word- Aurora Borealis :)
As part of our Digital Media work, we explored the natural environment of school and thought about why it was fascinating. Have a look at some of the stunning pictures we captured!
Welcome back!
Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas and New Years!
It has been a busy first week back. This week was friendship week so we explored a story all about different friendships. We enjoyed the drama activities and writing from different characters viewpoints.
Next week we are going to kick off into our topic. #I Earth ! I can't wait to start exploring this topic with you.
Remember home learning projects are due in on Friday as well as this week's Maths homework. No spellings this week though :)
End of Autumn Term
Wow! What an end of year! Year 6, you have being brilliant this half term. There are so many highlights to share......
So all that is left to say is .....
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas Party
Our Christmas party will be on Thursday 17th December! Children can bring a change of clothes for the afternoon and a selection of party food to share with the class.
Well done Class 6 for working your socks off to complete practise SATs papers. I know you are all so tired but you all tried your best!
Week Beginning 30/11/15
Christmas is definitely on its way into Class 6 ! Monday afternoon we joined Class 8 to make Christmas decorations ready for the Wyburns Wonderland on Friday. Year 6 were brilliant at helping the young children.....they just weren't so good at keeping the glitter off the floor! Sorry cleaners!
There is so much to look forward to next week. We have the Pantomine on Wednesday and Christmas dinner on Thursday!
Rayleigh Christmas Lights!
I am sure you will all agree that Year 6 were BRILLIANT!! :) I can't believe the CD failed but Year 6 were beyond spectacular. Year 6, we are all so proud of you. Pictures to follow......
Rayleigh Christmas Lights!
Hopefully we will see you all on Thursday night for our Christmas singing extravaganza! Please meet outside Boots at 4.00pm :)
French
This week we have been learning how to talk about ourselves in French. Children can tell you their name, ages and how many brothers and sisters they have.
Next week, we want to start talking about other people. It would be brilliant if the children could bring in pictures of their family to share so they can tell us all about them in French.
Friday 6th November
What a busy week back! There has been so much learning going on in Class 6 this week, from Remembrance Day poetry to the bombing of Pearl Harbour. We have also tackled adding and subtracting fractions this week in Maths and started our learning on Electricity too.
Christmas will soon be upon us. Year 6 are looking forward to representing Wyburns at the Christmas Lights Switch on in Rayleigh High Street. More details to follow soon but do put Thursday 26th November in your diary!
Monday 2nd November
Welcome back! Hope you all had a restful break.
Let the countdown to Christmas commence!
Monday 19th October
A busy day today, we started with a Big Write. Our classroom was transformed into a forest as the setting from our book - 'The Winterling'. We discussed a chapter from the book and then generated lots of vocabulary.
I can't wait to read the children's writing!
Well done to the Boys football team who showed their brilliance today! You were really unlucky not to make it through!
12/10/15
Today we learnt the names of parts of a circle. We went outside and used the circles on the playground to run round the diameter, radius and circumference.
02/10/15
Another busy week in Class 6.....
We experienced life in the Blitz on Tuesday - the classroom was bombed during an air raid. Fortunately we were able to put the classroom back together and continue with our learning.
Thursday we made gas masks and evacuation labels. Unbeknown to Year 6, this was all in preparation for Friday's lesson.....
Friday was the first Big Write of the year. Miss Williams and Mrs Beale (rather cruelly!) lined up Year 6 children in the hall and sent them off across the school to be evacuated. Some had a lovely time drinking milk and eating biscuits with Mrs Sansom Others has a rather miserable time sharpening pencils, cleaning floors and sweeping carpets. Sorry Year 6! Children eventually realised it was just a Big Write and reflected on their experiences with smiles on their faces. If Year 6 come home and tell you they were working for hours on end, I reassure you it was 15 minutes! (Yes Year 6, only 15 minutes!)
Friday there was lots of brilliance recognised, we really are on top form! The good manners award was ours and there were special awards for Brandon and Chloe too. Keep up the brilliance Year 6!
25/09/15
MORE BRILLIANCE this week!! We won the BB cup AGAIN and were the class with the best attendance Well done Class 6, you are AWESOME!
Lots of things have been happening this week......
We had Macmillian coffee morning on Friday. Thank you for everyone who donated cakes and brought in money to donate.
We also had school council elections.....
Well done Lucas and Sophie for becoming our new Junior Governors. Eloise and Jake are going to be our Vice Governors and help our younger children. I can't wait to see what ideas they come up with!
Well done Frazer, Sophia, Keira and Daniel on becoming our new Sports Leaders too.
18/09/15
Another busy week in Year 6! We have started spelling groups and maths homework was sent home this week! Please make sure that it is all returned on FRIDAY!
Thank you for all supporting Genes for Jeans on Friday.
This week, we also had a first aid assembly. We learnt the importance of first aid and how to give CPR. Remember 30 compressions, 2 rescue breaths! And don't forget it is 999 - NOT 911!
The link below explains further and also allows the children to take part in an educational online game in which they can test their skills!

The children have being BRILLIANT so far. Such super attitudes towards school. If they continue like this, we are going to have the most AMAZING year. Well done Year 6, keep it up!
You are also looking incredibly smart in your uniform. Make sure you maintain these high standards all year!
I hope to see lots of you at open school next week. A letter will be reaching you soon about a Mersea meeting. The excitement starts already!
Welcome back
It has been lovely to see you all back after the summer. Hope you all had restful breaks. I've already heard about some wonderful holidays!
A few important reminders to start the new term off....
* PE is always on Tuesday! You need to have the correct kit every week.
*Homework, as of next week, will be given out every Friday.
*Children have a school reading book to take home. They must read regularly and record in their reading books.
Please do come and see me if you have queries about Year 6. I look forward to working with you all. Let the fun and learning begin.......
