Primary School

Every child has brilliance inside them. Our job is to dig it out and give it to the world!

Here are some ideas of fun games to help support your child to learn their phonics sounds at home.

  • Accelerated Reader– Year 1 and 2
  • Bug Club Phonics online books
  • Sharing books
  • Noughts and crosses
  • Using chalk, whiteboards and post-its
  • I spy
  • Hangman
  • Scrabble
  • Countdown
  • Library visits
  • Enjoying making stories up together
  • Phonics Play and Spellings Play Websites

Most importantly…. enjoy and have fun!

At Wyburns we follow the cursive handwriting scheme.  Once their handwriting is of the correct size, with correctly formed letters and joining they can earn themselves a pen licence.  Please encourage your child to work on these at home as much as possible, particularly within written and spelling tasks.
