Honey Bees visit Wyburns

Today we were visited by a swarm of Honey Bees looking for a suitable nesting place. They chose a tree and began to gather at the back of the Adventure playground. We called in an expert who explained they were swarming and not yet nesting. Whilst swarming they are dozy and not keen to sting, or go near humans. He advised that dusting whilst swarming was not a recommended action as this could agitate them and be problematic for local honey farms. The tree they had chosen was not suitable for a nest so they would move on over the next few days to find their perfect home. They decided to move to a new, once again unsuitable, tree. We have contacted a local 'bee collector' and will revise the situation in the morning, dependent on their position. Of course our plans will ensure we keep our distance!
