  • Zoom zoom and Away.....To the children of Wyburns

    Wed 27 May 2020

    Good morning Everyone,

We have had a few hiccups with zoom this week, but it is looking like it has been resolved. We have all really enjoyed sharing your learning and inventive activities, but the best bit is seeing you almost in the real!!

Now, we know that it feels like forever we have been in lockdown and some of you are a bit fed up and not really feeling the home learning tasks on the website.

So- we have been busy training to use google classroom. Later this week some of you( your parents), years 2,4,6 will receive an email address and password to access your class google. We would like you to be our guinea pigs and spend next week trialing it with your teachers- checking it out and ironing the creases.

They will be sharing documents with you and asking you to do the same.

From 8th June all of you will have an email address and password and will start to explore Home Learning through Google Classroom. There will be specific learning tasks for each day and the website projects for independent activities.

Brilliance is back!! Your teachers will be choosing brilliance and rewarding brilliance certificates for the end of the week.  These will be emailed to you and your names will go on the Brilliance Assembly page on a Friday. Smilies will be rewarded for resilience, creativity, kindness, positivity, reading and reading and maybe for just being you!! The class with the most at the end of the week will receive the BRILLIANCE CUP! Please  continue to email homelearning@wyburns.org with your home brilliance so we can share some of that too.

Maybe at the start we say ' I can't do it- yet!' but we know we will get there.

One more exciting thing, you know how much we love reading-we are being trained to use a program called Accelerated Reader. Have a google look. We will let you know more about it when we are ready to go, go go.

Rest and relaxation for you this half term?

Enjoy the sunshine and remember to do something helpful every day.

    Wed 27 May 2020

    Hi Everyone,

As you will imagine there has been much discussion and planning regarding provision at Wyburns and our plans were shared on Friday.

Whilst each of us have opinion on the Government directives ,we have made decisions based on space and staff availability to best meet safety guidelines.

Thank you to those who completed the Key Worker, EYFS and Year 1 forms.

Our 2 Key Worker bubbles are now full.

We will be opening 1 EYFS bubble and 2 Year 1 bubbles.

Those who have requested a place for EYFS or Year 1 will be sent an email directly  later this week outlining staffing, timings and general organisational information.

    Best wishes

  • A rock and a hard place.....

    Tue 19 May 2020

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

As promised, I write to update you further regarding the Government plans to extend school provision at Wyburns.

Following a Zoom meeting this morning, and in light of further updates today, I am not as yet able to confirm further details. Every aspect of safety for all is being considered based on staffing, building layout and room capacity; planning is key.

An initial survey of years 2,3,4,5 Key worker provision has been undertaken to gather required numbers for this priority provision.

The list for additional provision is, in order of directed priority-

    1. EYFS.

    2. Year 1.

    3. Year 6.

We will be collecting information from families within these year groups.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

This has certainly been a week of announcements and guidance documents for all aspects of life, that continue to evolve.

Please rest assured that due consideration is being given to Government guidance  and the realistic, safe working practice that can be implemented to increase the number of children at Wyburns.

As yet no final decisions have been made.

We will release our plans on Tuesday afternoon, 19th May, following Trustee approval.

  • News and the like!

    Thu 07 May 2020

    Hi Everyone,

Firstly, thanks to you all for embracing the home learning projects and activities. We are trying to provide a mix of both challenge and creativity to engage all types of learners; and hopefully reduce any family pressure over completion at the same time!  We have been inundated with thanks, positivity and kind words. especially following our video link yesterday; happy tears.

Our weekly teacher challenge has gone down well, keep sending the brilliance. Thanks also for embracing Zoom.. If you don’t have the link please email the home learning mail. I can safely say it is currently the best part of my week.

I wanted to mention the current topic of all news stories- reopening schools.

Of course this is incorrect in the first instance, as schools are open.

Whilst there is heightened media coverage suggesting many options, I wanted to reassure you that in the background I, along with all school leaders, are in consultation with the DFE, the LA, The Trust and the  unions. This is where the actualities are discussed.

Please rest assured that safety and wellbeing for all is at the front of these discussions, along with actual viability of any change to the current organisation.

Decisions will only be made so as not to contravene safety, your views will be sought, so please turn off the news and ignore the social media stories.

I will of course keep you updated at all times.

Enjoy the bank holiday sunshine; bring out the barbies or indoor picnics.

    Take care

    Kath Sansom
